/16 At the end of filming, Rebecca Romijin (Mystique) brought in a bottle of tequila to celebrate with the cast. But she got so drunk that she ended up throwing up blue-coloured vomit, from the chemicals in her skin makeup, all over Hugh Jackman.
/16 Kelsey Grammer was so eager to play Beast in X-Men: Last Stand that he agreed to audition for the part, something he hadn't done in over 20 years.
/16 Most of the actors were required to wear special contact lenses but they became increasingly uncomfortable and dangerous to wear. Rebecca Romijn only had 10% vision while wearing hers and Tyler Mane, who played Sabertooth, went blind for a day when we kept his lenses in for too long. Eventually most of the eye effects were done with CGI.
/16 Most of the exterior shots of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters in X2 were the same shots used in X-Men because there wasn't a budget to re-film them.
/16 One day while filming X-Men Hugh Jackman jumped into the shower and realized there was no hot water. Not wanting to wake his sleeping wife, he trudged through the freezing cold shower. He realized that the rage he was feeling was exactly the mindset Wolverine was in constantly. From that day on he had a cold shower every morning to help him get into character.
/16 Director Bryan Singer once made the cast and crew wait for two hours on the set of X2 so he could fix a scene between Wolverine and Jean Grey. He sat on a log in the middle of a field until turning to the crew and asking them what they thought of the two characters kissing. All of them agreed and one crew member even asked if they could do more than that.
/16 In preparation for her audition for Kitty Pryde in X-Men: Last Stand, Summer Glau asked X-Men fan Joss Whedon for advice, unaware that he had written issues of Astonishing X-Men for Marvel. Her audition sides ended up being pages from the fifth issue of Astonishing X-Men written by him.
/16 Wolverine's look of shock in the scene where Magneto tears open the train car is real. Hugh Jackman was told that Magneto would tear off the train door, not pull the train apart by hydraulics. Afterwards he had to study his own performance so he could reproduce the facial expression in the subsequent takes.
/16 Ian McKellen, who played Magneto, worked with the screenwriters on X2 to make Bobby's revelation scene with his parents mirror a gay coming-out conversation.
/16 In order to keep her look a secret and not damage the makeup job, Rebecca Romijin had to sit in an isolated, windowless room when not needed on set. She explained, "I had almost no contact with the rest of the cast, it was like I was making a different movie from everyone else. It was hell." She also couldn't drink wine, use skin creams, or fly the day before filming because it would cause her body chemistry to change, causing the prosthetics to fall off.
/16 Filming the scene in X-Men where Cyclops sees a small boy at the train station didn't go as planned. The boy was a huge X-Men fan and couldn't stop smiling at James Marsden. Finally during one take Marsden just smiled back and director Bryan Singer liked the interaction so much that he kept it in the film.
/16 Professor Xavier's wheelchair was auctioned off after X-Men and bought by a lawyer. The lawyer had to rent it back to the studio for X2 for what Patrick Stewart said was "a significant sum".
/16 Joss Whedon wrote a draft script for X-Men but it was rejected due to too many pop-culture references. Two lines of his dialogue remained in the final script though: the "Prove it!" "You're a dick" exchange between Cyclops and Wolverine, and "Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning?... The same thing that happens to everything else."
/16 James Marsden had to wear platform shoes and stand on boxes to appear taller than Hugh Jackman who was 6'2" so Tyler Mane set up a box in Marsden's trailer bathroom with a note: "This is so you can reach your sink."
/16 While filming the Weapon X flashback scene for X2 Hugh Jackman ran naked down a corridor and the female cast members and James Marsden's mother waiting for him, cheering and waving one dollar bills.
