People Reveal What 'Words Of Wisdom' Have Stuck With Them

Lessons I have to tell... yes.

The Universe is speaking, we all just have have to listen. Wisdom is being thrown at us from every corner, at every turn. If we quiet our spirit and listen to the lessons we're being told when we least know it, we may hear exactly what we need to survive.

Redditor u/Doza5 wanted to know what life lessons we all can take with us by asking.... What "words of wisdom" have always stuck with you?

Educate Yourself....

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it

Damn You Pokemon....

"Just because we don't have anything important to talk about, doesn't mean the time we spend together isn't meaningful."

I found this out when I came home from college to hang out with my brother. We wanted to make up for lost time and spend every minute together, but we ran out of things to talk about pretty quickly. It turns out, walking down the street and catching Pokemon is just as fulfilling as having a deep conversation. All that matters was that we were spending time with one another. MeanMrMooCow

TRUTH!!

"Failure is not the opposite of success, it's part of it." bangersnmash13

Run from Malice.....

Never attribute to malice that which you can to stupidity or business. UltimateAnswer42

Never attribute to malice that which can be attributed to good intentions mixed with a bad model/theory. QuintusNonus

Be ready...

"Failing to prepare is preparing to fail."

Along the same lines: "Procrastination is like masturbation - feels good, but you're just f**king yourself."

As someone who gets overwhelmed easily and tends to procrastinate, I say these things to myself often to help stay motivated. let_them_eat_kale

Keep Learning...

"If you're not learning, you're screwed." -Said to me by a coworker when I confided that I felt like I still had so much to learn, and he reminded me that everyone in the company was still learning something. Snowbank_Lake

The Introverts....

If you're going to eat crap, don't nibble it.

As an introvert, I sometimes agree to do things with friends but then dread actually doing it when the event comes up. This saying helps me realize once I commit to something I should embrace the experience 100 percent without thinking of backing out. Because of this thought process, I have had some great experiences I would have otherwise bailed on. Lead5alad

You're not that important....

If you are one to feel self-conscious or have mild social anxiety, it can be helpful to remember that no one is really paying as much attention to you as you think. librarianjenn

Look Forward...

Comparison is the thief of joy. I think about it usually once per day and remind myself to judge my life against my past and only look forward. MajorMustard

Thank you Oprah....

The most important relationship you have is your relationship with yourself. FamiliarTrade9

I remember my dad's friend told me: "think of yourself as a glass of water. You can fill other people's glass, and make them feel better, but if that's all you do, you'll be an empty glass with happiness being something that you have to steal from others to get."

I wrote that down the second after I heard it. So remember, every once in a while, it's okay to do something purely for yourself... just don't hurt others in the process! NovaCalgary

You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, or so the saying goes.

The same can be said for your interactions with cops, most of whom are perfectly happy to let minor infractions slide––When was the last time you were actually ticketed for jaywalking?––provided you're not a total Karen should you interact them.

Your local police officer likely doesn't care about jaywalking or the fact that you went five miles over the speed limit unless you give him a reason to, as we learned when Redditor Takdel asked police officers: "What stupid law have you enforced just because someone was an a-hole?"
