Diehard Harry Potter Fans Admit Their Most Unpopular Opinions On The Franchise
If you're a fan of Harry Potter, whether it be from the books, the movies or even Pottermore, there's a pretty good chance you've got some strong opinions on some things.
Oh, you thought you were the only one? You're not. There's an entire Tumblr full of Harry Potter opinions - plenty of them controversial.
Take a look at some of what we found:
1. Slytherin For The Win!
The day that I was sorted into Slytherin on Pottermore was one of the best days of my life.
2. So Not Here For LuNeville
I am actually glad that Neville and Luna didn't end up together because it wouldn't be realistic. Not everyone ends up with their high school sweetheart from their teenaged years.
3. The Weasley's Were The Real Love Story
Everyone talks about wanting a love like James/Snape and Lily, but I want a love like the Weasleys.
4. So Not Here For HanNeville
Why did Neville end up with Hannah? She wasn't even mentioned in the book or movie. The same thing with Luna and Roli. I think Neville and Luna should have ended up together.
5. Sympathy For Dolores
Dolores Umbridge might be the least likable person in the books/movies, but she's an incredibly well developed and interesting character.
6. These Books Make No Sense
Sometimes, A Very Potter Musical makes more sense than canon Harry Potter.
7. Not All Teenagers Are Idiots
I hated book seven because Rowling made the trio out to be idiotic teenagers who made worse decisions at age 17 than they did at age 11 because of their emotions.
8. Ron Lost A Fan
I used to like Ron until he started arguing with Harry and Hermione because of his jealousy.
9. Psh, Forget Gryffindor
Unlike most of the fandom, I don't want to be in Gryffindor. I'd rather be in Slytherin.
10. Conflicted Like Whoa
Is it weird that I love Sirius Black and his assassin at the same time?
11. Draco the Gryffindor?
I think people never realize what it truly meant when Draco Malfoy asked Harry to hang out with his group of pure bloods, how much courage it took for him to extend his hand for a handshake. Draco knew that he would have to be mean to this boy because of his father. That was not a "join us cuz we're better" it was a "my father will make me be a jerk to you and I'd rather not." and people don't realize this. Draco Malfoy had been doing tiny nice things all along, but no one noticed them because he had to disguise being nice. Imagine the sorting hat, seeing how much courage Draco used to do that, and Draco chanting "slytherin, I don't want a beating."
Draco Malfoy was a true Gryffindor, being forced into a vile, mean personality.
12. We Need-A Veela!
I've always been disappointed that the movies never even mentioned veelas, because anyone who hasn't read the books will never know that Fleur is only half human.
13. A Slytherin Fan
I don't get why people hate Slytherins because they think they're all evil. The only reason they could think that is because they focus on the bad things Slytherins have done. I mean, look at Snape, Draco and Regulus. They ended up being great people.
14. Lily Doesn't Matter
I liked Snape before he was considered "a good guy." I really wish people liked Snape as a character without looking at his relationship with Lily Potter too much. He's dark, an introvert, but still brave and very powerful. It just shows how many people only liked him after they found out about his relationship with Lily.
15. Regulus > Snape and Draco
I honestly think that Regulus Black is the most underrated character in the Harry Potter series. He was raised in a pure-blood household similar to the one that Draco Malfoy lived in. For a little while, Regulus gave in to the pressure of Voldemort and his family, but he fought back as a teenager. He fought back against something that he had been taught was right for his whole life. Snape couldn't do that and Draco couldn't do that. Where are the Regulus Black fans?
16. Bellatrix The Misunderstood
I just don't understand when people call Bellatrix a psychopath. Like, she's insane, but she has feelings. A psychopath knows exactly what they're doing, they just don't care about it.
17. Boo For Bonnie
Bonnie Wright was horrible as Ginny because in the book she was fun and outgoing and in the movie she was so boring.
18. Bonnie Isn't To Blame
Bonnie Wright isn't to blame for Ginny's character. It's the writer's fault for writing their version of Ginny that way, not the actors. Bonnie did the best she could, and I thought she made a very excellent Ginny as far as the movie's character goes. Don't blame the actor for the writer's shortcomings.
19. Severus S-nope!
I have mixed feelings towards Snape. I feel as if he hadn't been in love with Lily, he would have gone straight to Voldemort's side, no questions asked. Although Harry and Dumbledore both trusted him in the end, I still don't.
20. Til Death Do Us Part
When Bellatrix died, I felt like a part of me died with her.
Whoops. That snip was just a hair too far....
Your first bad haircut probably made you want to die a little when you looked in the mirror. Imagine how the person cutting your hair must have felt. Although, maybe they didn't care at all, as evidenced by the bs excuse they gave you when you finished in the barber chair.
